A Few Songs that Inspired (or just vibe with) The Miscalculations of Lightning Girl

WINDY by The Association — My mom used to make my brother and me listen to “oldies” when we rode in the car. This is a song I remember really liking this tune. When I need a unique name for Lucy’s friend, this song popped in my head.
CHERISH by The Association — In the book, Windy’s sister’s name is Cherish. I don’t know why I picked this name. I just wanted something unique because parents would not name one of their kids Windy and the other Jessica. I needed to be original and Cherish popped into my brain. I did not realize that Cherish, like Windy, is also a song by The Association. (Our brains work in funny ways.)

HELPLESS from Hamilton — Windy loves musicals and I was definitely in my Hamilton phase while writing this book. I adore every song from the musical, but if I had to pick one for my MLG playlist, I‘ll take Helpless.
SHAKE IT OFF by Taylor Swift — I’m a Swiftie. I’ve taken my daughters to three concerts. Shake It Off is a jam that Lucy should listen to on repeat.
ONE DAY MORE from Les Miserable — Iconic! This songs speaks to Windy’s love of musicals and Lucy’s love of numbers. (Les Mis will always be my favorite musical.)
